Death Note

"Ah~So boring~" says Ryuk, a shinigami (god of death). And so he went to the world of human, hoping for some fun. Intentionally, he dropped a book called "Death Note", it is like a copybook but, when the name of a person that you know or have seen is written in that, the person will die after 40s due to heart attack, if the cause and time of death has not been precised.
This note has been picked up by Yagami Light, a super intelligent high school boy. And after discovering the use of the note, he started to punish the criminals, in order to make this world a better place to live in. But the unreasonable deaths of the people have caused attention in the world wide police department. Just when they are arguing about what to do, L, a very well known detective, has decided to find Light at all costs...
Will Light be found? What will he do to counter L?

Indeed a very very interesting anime~I have not found other which are more interesting than this in the year of 2006, it is really worth watching for those who like detective and strategy types~~!!

I love Death note!!! I'm not really a manga/anime fan but this anime is just amazing. The story is very original so are the characters!
Although Yagami Light is a megalomaniacal genius he is my favourite character. He is a very dexterous manipulator.
L too is one of my favourite. He is so peculiar: he sits in a very weird fashion and consumes a LOT of sugar.
I haven't read the manga but watched the anime and the graphics are well done. The background music blends nicely with the story( which is flooded with twists;) ) and the Season 1 soundtrack is very catchy.

yeah, i quite agree with jedi here....though i HATE Light Yagami, i must say he is somehow intriguing....but, really, i can barely bear him...pff~~
L is my hero in this one~~i was so heartbroken when he..............when he.......when he....................*can't say it~~weeps...and anyway, spoiler this*...
i think it is most interesting. you already know what is happening but still, when you see L's or any of his successors' deductions, you just have to go 'maaaan~~when did they get sooo brilliant?!!!'

I definitely recommend it. It's very addictive though. make sure you've got enough time to watch the anime or read the manga

It's true that it's not that nice to see women manipulated but at the risk of sounding harsh, I think Misa has an IQ equivalent to that of a pea.
So, even if Light wasn't going to use her that girl would surely have thrown herself in front of a train to persuade him to do so. She said it herself that she was contented to being used by him. Consequently, elle est un peu fautive quand meme...
Mais bon, that still doesn't change the fact that Light is a manipulator

i don't think so...if you have some foresight, you can plan very far into the future...if you say that he is 99.9% god, then, what do you make of Near? he defeated your 99.9% god, Uri...even L was used to planning that way~~i mean, Jedi can tell you a great deal about planning, right, Jed?

and, hell yeah!! that Light Yagami is really too much of a manipulator...but you have to blame the people who stupidly allow themselves to be used by him...take Takada for instance. an intelligent woman who still let him control her through her feelings....tch...useless emotional baka...!

I watched a bit of Deathnote and the first thing that came to me was: "man...that ugly thing's the shinigami?!?"
I also watched some seconds of the live movie. Not bad. Will give it a try after exams.

yeah...that's Death Note for ya!! Ugly uglu Shinigamis.....and terrible psychopaths....do give it a try..i strongly recommend it!! i think they've been good on the adaptation from manga to anime...but the manga is really really heavy to read...it takes ages to complete one volume~~ still...it's cool!
