What type do you like?

I wonder do people like Shojo or Shonen or both....

Shojo means girl type
Shonen means boy type

i love shounen because shounen fits my type of personality, i think....it's like, not gentle-like.....it's more rough and the sense of humour is generally really good compared to shojo, which is too girl like for me!! at least in shounen anime, the fighting is real fighting!!

If you have tell me the meaning of shounen and shojo, i would never know it(such a baka). Thanks

Hmm, i think that the 2 worth watching as the 2 have their plus!

But i am more for the shounen! The heart breaking and crying of shojo story is too girlish for me(each person have his opinion)

As for me I like Shonen better than Shojo...it is because for the shonen, there are fighhting, so cool>.<I really like to watch it....Shojo's less...but some are good stories...

Now the Shojo concentrates mainly on cute girls and one boy, but the good shojo one that I find will be NANA.
I prefer Shonen, but still like both~! Shonen is more interesting sometimes in the storyline~!

Yep...And i don't like when there's only one boy and a lot of girls...Shonen is better>.<

But Ouran Koukou Host Club is a good one, it's one where you get lots of laughs~!

Shojo or Shonen, it really depends on how good the story is, but I have a preference for shonen where there is generally less of the "Je t'aime, tu m'aimes, nous nous aimons" (well, you know what I mean...) stuff.

It's true, but now the Shojo is more towards the comic side now, as mentioned before, Ouran Koukou Host Club, and there is also the visual shojo anime, Yamato Nadeshiko Shichihenge~!!Both are very funny~! And there is absolutely no "Je m'aime, Tu t'aimes, Nous nous aimons" thing~!

yeah, but they aren't exactly really extra comique!! it feels more like it's funny on the spot, then, when one thinks about it again, well, it's rather dumb. but that's my point of view, no offense meant, okay?

Well, Shojos are usually quite funny and this can be quite pleasant sometimes... For example, the anime fruit basket is very funny...

Shonen are really good for stories and how the story is developed... For example, Dragon Ball was the best shonen ever to be created...

And By the way, Shonen refers to an anime for Young boys...like children... and cannot be generalised for others anime... like you can't dump all animes in either categories...
Similarly Shojos are anime for young girls...

Anyway, My type of anime is more mecha and and some shonens...(because of Evangelion, escaflowne, etc... Razz

I like shojo and shonen.
I like shojo because i love some love story such as, peach girl, fullmoon.
I like shonen because when they are killing somebody and can see the blood splashing everywhere and they are fighting such as Blood+,one piece,trinity blood,Rave.XD8)

Anines I like in:

-Shonen - Kenshin, Naruto, Hunter X Hunter, Death Note, Full Metal Alchemists

-Shojo - Fruit Basket, Ouran Koukou Host Club,

I love both, I watch anime as NANA and also DBZ or FMA

hmm.....looks like most people here, in CC, like both genres. but i'd like to add that these are not the only types available. there are also things like mecha, samurai, hentai, yaoi (gay stuff), yuri (lesbian stuff), shounen ai( yaoi, but less explicitly so), shoujo ai (same thing as shounen ai), etc. so, most people don't stick to just these two genres but rather go for much more.....mmm....it's all a matter of taste, i guess.

Also, it depends on the quality of the anime... There can be good shoujo anime as well as bad ones... Same goes for shounen ones...
Still, most shounen anime are better than shoujo ones (no offense meant, it's just that i don't like these things where the characters are all lovey-dovey)...

Shiz's right, there are so many other genres. I really like animes which are a blend of different styles (take Samurai Champloo)...anyway, if you watch closely, you'll notice that there are no purely mecha or purely whatever style of anime, they're all mixed nowadays...

uh-huh....yeah. that's true!! i've got one anime....it's a blend of shoujo and mecha....it's not bad but the girls are too much of some wimps!! that's precisely what i hate about shoujo....but blended with some other genres, it's not so bad....rather good, i must even say!

I agree... Nowadays no anine can be classified in any specific group even though one genre can be more important than the others..

Take for example, Evangelion, the mecha part is quite small... there is also a mixture of many other genre which makes the anime enjoyed by any type of fan...

This is quite essential to the success of an anime, i guess...

it is...you can't make a manga for only one kind of people. it would be a waste of time and there would be minimal chances of success. also, the manga would seem much less imaginative and therefore, boring...i think that most, if not all the anime i have watched, especially these days, are a very nice blend of many genres. though, when i was still a kid, anime were so easy to categorise~~Sailor moon was the shoujo par excellence and DBZ was the best example of shounen....fortunately, genres have evolved~~
