~How many different types of martial arts are there??~

What i know are(i think) the main..

Kung-Fu for Chinese
Tae Kwon Do for Korean
Karate for Japanese
Capoeira for Brazilian
Muay Tai for Thailand

But this is only a little, because there is more... much more..

In modern times there have been diversification.....or specialisation..???
Combat skills, fitness, self-defence, sport, self-cultivation (meditation), mental discipline, character development and building self-confidence.

There are the some of the martial art that i know...
Counsel: Don't be shy to try at least one of those, it is really good to practise!

Penchak silat from Malaysia/ Phillipines - series of fluid moves aiming at locking the opponents attacks
Also different regions/cultures have interesting weapon styles! but all the moves are basically the same:shock:
Karate is very vague, as is Kung fu. They complete each other... there are various styles of karate and kungfu but in Mauritius we quite limited...

Well there are so many different styles in martial arts that you can't list all of them accurately. Moreover, some styles are derivations of others or merges of some different styles! whoa , complicated...

Karate Shotokan-That's what i used to do...
I think its some kind of variation of the Karate. When i stopped we were all at the 'Ceinture Vert' rank and there was only two ranks more to be able to try the "Ceinture Marron", A decisive rank if you want to continue...

Was really nteresting although the sensei was always doing the physical thing and never any teaching about the style itself....

When last i heard, he was sacked for harassing a girl...

By the way, there was a Shotokan seminar at Phoenix last month, animated by Grandmaster (Jou dan) Kanazawa. It was awesome!

aaah~~~~me me!!! me started jujitsu since some time already...it used to be traditional jujitsu (All Japan Jujitsu International Federation and stuff...=_=)...but recently, sensei implemented combat jujitsu and some Shotokan karate in the syllabus~~~~this is great~~it's got style, power and it's efficient~~~~love it~~

Shotokan?? J'suis perplexe la...What's your Sensei doing? Jujitsu is a complete art in itself, and mastering your traditional jujitsu means you can adapt to combat easily...maybe he's preparing a team for competition purposes Good luck Shiz, I will pray for your survival


Hey, I still plan to resume jujitsu one day, but i just can't find any fixed free day *sigh*

Some day, you'll be able to~~yeah, i think he is preparing competitions and stuff...seminars and god knows what. =_=....sensei used to do kung fu, shotokan karate and i forgot what else. he's only doing just a bit of shotokan...nothing much. we're still jujitsu-ing~~don't worry...i don't think i'll be going on competitions, i'm not good enough...my bro will for sure though...he's good~~~~>u<
